Had you heard about the Sanctuary for Independent Media before you started working here?

At first, I thought I was going to work at a medical place or an office as a secretary. I really didn’t know what we were going to do here. I was just confused and surprised about what we were going to do, but it turned out well.

Do you feel that you are a storyteller?

No, not really. I feel that I’m just a helper, basically. A storyteller is basically the main person who actually tells the story, but a person who’s helping brings ideas to complete it. I think the storyteller is the most important one, because the storyteller knows more about the history and what happened then the person who helps the story. The story can still happen, but [the storyteller] needs help to put it together.

What have you been doing in your role as a storyhelper?

I ask questions. I also help bring ideas of how a scene is supposed to look like. I also hold the camera.

How do you feel when you’re working at the Sanctuary?

I feel like I’m helping give hope to other people out there. I feel really important because I’m doing something. I also enjoy it, my first time helping the community. I’ve never experienced anything like this before.
