HMM 7 – 21 – 2020

Hello Capital Region! This is the Hudson Mohawk Magazine, broadcasting from the Sanctuary for Independent Media in Troy, NY.

Up first, we’ll hear from Melanie Tremble from Capital District NY Civil Liberties Union on defunding the police.

Then, All Of Us organizer Mikayla Foster talks about genderqueer identity and how it informs their way of protesting.

And later on, we hear from local activist Lynn Jackson who talks about preemptive prosecution and its effects on the justice system, specifically targeting Muslims.

We speak with Jane Williams, Chair of the National Clean Air Team for Sierra Club, about the Norlite Hazardous Waste incinerator and why she considers it to be a “serial noncompliar.”

On Thursday, there will be a Town Hall about Norlite and the state bill that would permanently ban the facility from burning AFFF. We speak with panelist and Saratoga Sites resident, Joe Ritchie. But first some headlines.
