SUMMARY:Broken Plastics Open Studio & Mosaic Making
DESCRIPTION:Learn about microplastics pollution and create a mosaic tile from community-gathered plastic waste with artist Nicole Chochrek and Water Justice Lab.  \n\n\n\n\nClick Here to Register\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVisit the pop-up outdoor studio of Broken Plastics artist Nicole Chrochrek for some hands-on art-making and education about plastic pollution. For more than a year\, NATURE Lab has hosted one of Nicole’s microplastics recycling bins. This fall Nicole and Water Justice Lab are hosting a series of pop-up workshops so community members can use the collected plastic pieces to make mosaic tiles to be exhibited at Context Collective gallery and The Sanctuary main space gallery in October and November 2026.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNicole Chochrek utilizes visual and performative frameworks to explore contemporary issues and environmental disparities. Her work focuses on the accessibility and digestibility of information\, deep listening\, shared responsibilities\, and the construction of new ways of being together. As an interdisciplinary artist\, Nicole’s work transverses themes such as air quality\, land use\, waste\, and the navigations of a neurodivergent mind. Her process examines our ideas of “correctness” and holds space for possibility.

SUMMARY:Mulchamania!
DESCRIPTION:Learn about the benefits of mulching and composting as we ready the garden for winter. Facilitated by arborist Christian Grigoraskos\, this event will take place during our weekly CCG open garden hours. \n\n\n\n\nClick Here to Register\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMaintaining a blanket of organic matter to keep the micro-life in your soil happy is paramount to a successful garden with plants that thrive. Participants will have the chance to turn a compost pile and take home a starter of biologically active living soil for their home garden. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFacilitator bio: \n\n\n\nChristian Grigoraskos has been a Sanctuary volunteer since the early days of Collard City Growers circa 2014.
