SUMMARY:Spring 2024 Campus Open House
DESCRIPTION:Our Campus Open House is an opportunity to drop by the Sanctuary to get to know our many initiatives and programs! This is a great opportunity for potential interns\, volunteers\, or curious community members to ask questions and learn more about what we do. Our various initiatives will have activities\, tables\, and workshops in the Sanctuary Main Space\, with scheduled campus tours throughout the duration of the event.  \n\n\n\n\n\nLearn About: \n\n\n\n\nVolunteering Or Interning: Lend a helping hand whenever and wherever you fit in!\n\n\n\nNATURE Lab: Learn about our Air Justice Lab\, Water Justice Lab\, & Be5 STEAM Club!\n\n\n\nSanctuary Radio: Get involved with Hudson-Mohawk Magazine or Jazz Sanctuary!\n\n\n\nSpring Programming: See what’s coming this season at the Sanctuary and learn how you can get involved!\n\n\n\nPeople’s Health Sanctuary: Help us nurture a healthy North-Central Troy!\n\n\n\nCollard City Growers: Swap some seeds by bringing your own to share and/ or bringing some home with you!\n\n\n\nSanctuary TV: View our extensive archive and help us document our upcoming events!\n\n\n\nKitchen Sanctuary: Feed our volunteers\, community\, and minds! \n\n\n\n\nActivities & Workshops: \n\n\n\n\nThe Art of the Interview Radio Workshop: In this interactive workshop you will be given real experience stories\, demonstration\, and exercises to improve your interview and conversational skills. We will work with equipment and discuss how the interviewer can shape the interview.\n\n\n\nCamera Operation & Live Directing Workshop: In this workshop you will learn about how to set up the camera (white balance\, memory cards)\, how to operate a camera (set up a frame\, adjusting focus\, how to find a new interesting frame)\, and working with a live director who is speaking to you in your headset.\n\n\n\nSeed Swap: Learn seed keeping methods from local gardeners\, acquire seeds to grow\, and bring your own seeds and stories to show and share. There’s no need to bring seeds or have any knowledge of seed-keeping or gardening to attend–you can also join for company and conversation! We’ll also be joined by Danielle Peláez\, who will be tabling on behalf of Soul Fire in the City.\n\n\n\nCooking Workshop: Sanctuary chefs Jonathan Segol and Intaba Liff-Anderson will oversee making a recipe start to finish.
