DESCRIPTION:William Scott Ritter\, Jr. is most noted for being a critic of United States foreign policy in the Middle East following his experiences as a United Nations weapons inspector in Iraq. Prior to the U.S. invasion in March 2003\, Rutter repeatedly stated that Iraq possessed no weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and was widely condemned for it. Now much of his criticism of U.S. policy has been vindicated. His new book\, Target Iran: The Truth About the White House’s Plans for Regime Change (2006)\, examines the Bush administration’s regime-change policy and the potential of Iran to threaten U.S. national security interests. “The most important thing to know about Scott Ritter the man\, is that he was right\,” Seymour Hersh states. “He told us again and again in 2002 and early 2003\, as President George Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair prepared for war in Iraq\, that there were no weapons.” \n\n\n\nPresented by the Iran Working Group of Upper Hudson Peace Action.
