Underground Gallery Exhibition: Media Nodes, Photos by Sean Hemmerle

October 6, 2011 December 3, 2011 EDT

Media Nodes was born of award-winning photographer Sean Hemmerle’s desire to document the news media in the midst of an historic transformation. “People throw around this word all the time, mostly disparagingly: ‘oh, the media,’ and ‘media spin,” he says. “That made me think: who is the media? And what about the media? I wanted to put a face on these media nodes, the places where news is ‘made’ if you will.” This world-premiere exhibition of the eight-year project Media Nodes was originally published in the Columbia Journalism Review. It is a view behind the curtain, beyond the front page, to the interior landscape of an industry in transition.

On view 10/6/11-12/3/11.
