Salon Séance: “The End of Time”
November 19 @ 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm EST
Join us for an interdisciplinary presentation combining live classical music with visual and theatrical storytelling. This is the regional premiere of The End of Time, an immersive experience with themes of trauma and healing.
Salon Séance creates a new ritual to experience the intersection between music, history, and our lives. The End of Time is centered around the French composer Olivier Messiaen and his masterwork Quartet for the End of Time, written and premiered during his captivity at the prisoner-of-war camp in Görlitz, Germany during WW2 in 1941. It explores the theme of hope in times of desperation through stories that inspired Messiaen to compose this work: the stories of the musicians that premiered this work and the story of the Book of Revelation. The musical work, which embodies the collective experience of captivity as well as the concept of a renewal after the End of Time, become a source of hope for the future as the most destructive war in history was raging.
