About MOVING HEAVEN AND EARTH:

Musician Joe Abbey, who has produced a number of incredible shows at the Sanctuary over the years, came to us with this idea for a concert of gospel music and the blues featuring The Heavenly Echoes and JV & the Cutters with special guests the Agape Blues Company… presenting traditional and original songs of Tribulation, Jubilation, and Liberation. He calls this true American roots music, Here and Now, and wanted to make this show a benefit for our new community radio station, WOOC 105.3 FM.

About WOOC 105.3 FM

Early this year the Federal Communications Commission granted a construction permit for a new radio station, WOOC 105.3 FM, to broadcast from studios at The Sanctuary for Independent Media. It’s what’s called a low power radio station—operating at 100 watts—but that’s enough to cover all of Troy and beyond. Of course, we’ll also be streaming on the Internet… and our long-term plans are to work with other local community groups to expand broadcast coverage throughout the entire Capital Region. Our on-air studio is ready, production training has begin, our transmitter and antenna have arrived… all that’s left is to raise the money for some special FCC-required equipment and get our antenna onto a tower!

JV Cutter photoAbout JV & THE CUTTERS

JV plays original music that fuses elements of rock, funk, soul, gospel and jazz with the power and directness of electric blues. He calls this music “the new urban blues.” JV started playing bass guitar after hearing the bluesy swing and shuffle of Bill Wyman from the early days of the Rolling Stones. A few years later, the music of Albert King inspired him to pick up the guitar. JV writes music rooted in the styles of masters such as T. Bone Walker, John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters. The lyrics, however, reflect contemporary issues and modern life.
