Melissa Aldana Quartet

October 21, 2017 @ 7:00 pm 10:00 pm EDT

A rising tenor saxophonist taking the jazz world by storm, Melissa Aldana leads a high octane quartet featuring: Michael King, piano; Pablo Menares, bass; Tommy Crane, percussion. Originally from Chile, Aldana broke into the New York jazz scene in 2009. She quickly asserted herself as one of the most esteemed tenor saxophonists of her generation. In 2013, Aldana was recognized as the first female instrumentalist and the first South American ever to win the prestigious Thelonious Monk Competition. Since then, she has continued to raise the bar and innovate new sounds from traditional jazz forms.

Funded through the Mid Atlantic Tour Program of the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation with support from the National Endowment for the Art.

We are committed to lowering the barriers to access for events at The Sanctuary for Independent Media. For people who are hard of hearing or deaf, blind or low-vision, or whose physical limitations can interfere with a satisfying experience, let us know two weeks in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements.
