Facing Change: Weather Underground Meets Occupy Wall Street

March 3, 2012 @ 6:30 pm 8:00 pm EST

David Gilbert’s new book, Love and Struggle: My Life in SDS, the Weather Underground, and Beyond, sparks a dialogue about what social justice movements can learn from each other.

Currently serving a 75 year to life sentence in the New York State prison system, Gilbert chose a political path – an Eagle Scout turned member of the Weather Underground. A panel of today’s young activists will talk with ’60s revolutionaries about their common struggles, grounded by critical exchange and self-reflection.

Panelists include Naomi Jaffe, Barbara Smith, Jeff Jones, Dan Lyles, Laura Travison, and Victorio Reyes and special guest Larry White, co-founder of The New Jim Crow Movement to End Mass Incarceration.

We are committed to lowering the barriers to access for events at The Sanctuary for Independent Media. For people who are hard of hearing or deaf, blind or low-vision, or whose physical limitations can interfere with a satisfying experience, let us know two weeks in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements.
