Be The Media! Workshop With John Feldman: Video – From Idea to Game Plan

March 4, 2007 @ 12:00 pm 5:00 pm EST

So you’ve got a great idea for a film you’d like to make. Now what? Whether your idea is for fiction, documentary, educational, experimental, or a combination of all of the above, this workshop will help you (1) articulate your idea in words so that you can raise money, get partners, and get started, and (2) develop a “game plan” of what to do next, and next, and next… Regardless of how brilliant your idea is, you must write it down and, depending on the genre, there are set ways to do this. This workshop will cover different types of proposals, treatments, pitches, synopses, and scripts. We will also cover how to protect your idea and touch on production schedules and budgets. To get the most out of the workshop, please come with an idea you’d like to develop and a notebook. By the end of the four hours you’ll know what to do next.

John Feldman has been making films and writing scripts, treatments, proposals and budgets for over thirty years and he still loves it all! Many of his ideas have been realized as films and videos, several of these have won prestigious festival awards. He has made four independent dramatic features and many documentaries, educational, and experimental films. Feldman teaches digital workshops at various universities and high schools in the US and overseas. His production company, Hummingbird Films, is located in Spencertown, NY and serves clients around the world.
