"Awake From Your Slumber" presents an enthralling call for action from two visionary legends of our time, Patti Smith and Ralph Nader. Rock icon/ punk poet laureate Smith performs Radio Bagdhad and Power to the People, mesmerizing the crowd with a brilliant acoustic performance. More and more Americans know the nature of the disaster that the Bush government, in our name, has created in oil-rich Iraq. The case against the war and occupation of Iraq, and the corporate takeover of our democracy is well documented. Smith and Nader call for a halt to the corporate profiteering that has been rampant in the war effort in Iraq. Joining together in a Democracy Rising Peace Tour, sponsored by the Greens, this intimate event was taped and edited with a cutting edge style, by the Hudson Mohawk Independent Media Center. The final DVD is a poetic mix of inspirational songs and speech.
