WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
The Youth Media Shout-Out Workshop is a media-making event for teenagers. Make a PSA in a day, about issues important to you… then screen it and shout out in this live-studio production workshop!
Participants break into small groups to produce public service announcements (PSAs) with diverse responses to a teen-related theme. Members of each group share crew roles in a live studio production featuring PSA premieres and youth media makers' discussion.
Following the workshop, a community potluck honored the youth media makers, followed by the NY Shout Out Youth Media Festival.
This workshop and evening festival screening featured youth media groups from our local area and surrounding regions, including the following organizations:
- Youth Media Sanctuary, with Missing Link Street Ministries and Upstate Girls; Troy
- Youth FX; Albany
- Y-MAP, Time Space Limited; Hudson
- Green Guerrillas; Ithaca
- Tech Valley High School; Rensselaer
- Access LPCTV; Ludlow, VT
- Niskayuna High School Media Class; Niskayuna
Youth from 12-18 welcome. Media experience not necessary.
