Julia Cavicchi

Julia Cavicchi is a summer '16 intern at the Sanctuary, and an environmental studies junior at Skidmore College. She'll be creating place-based audio stories for the low-power FM. In the past, she has co-produced a radio show and online podcast on science research and multi-species communities.

Breathing Lights: Sanctuary, Troy Hub

The Sanctuary for Independent Media is the "Hub" for the Breathing Lights project. Our hope to use participatory arts practice to educate and empower people to make a change in their communities. Our organization is dedicated to giving voice to those least represented in the media – so creating stories of people living amongst abandoned buildings, and using art to network diverse organizations striving to improve the health and welfare of our communities, fits directly within our mission. We will host several events related to the theme of vacant buildings and community revitalization during 2016. Projects include:

 

Alycia Bacon

Alycia Bacon first came to The Sanctuary in 2011 after finding a a brochure at Proctors Theatre in Schenectady.

Orginigally from Scottsdale, Arizona,  Alycia is now a resident of Troy and spends her days either working various jobs, continuing her education or building her freelance writing career as The Modern Scribe. Alycia is a gifted and passionate writer and photographer and hopes to travel the world. She also practices MMA fighting including Krav Maga and Muay Thai.'
