Public Access TV Comes to Albany
In this January 25, 2010 press conference, the City of Albany announces its new franchise contract with Time Warner Cable. The contract provides 2 additional channels for Public, Educational, and Government programming (for a total of 3 channels) and $434,000 over 10 years to fund equipment. This is a success for Albany as New York State has significantly less public access than many other states in the country. However, as no money has been put aside to staff the public access studio, dedicated volunteers will be needed to make the stations succeed. To read more visit http://www.timesunion.com/ASPStories/Story.asp?StoryID=893203
